Frequently Asked Questions
We are building this list of questions as a service to our homeowners. Do you have a question that you think should be included here? Send it to us at ArnellCreek@gmail.com.
Swimming Pool
Question: I am a new homeowner, and I need to get a key to the community swimming pool. What do I do?
Answer: Call HOA Board & Welcoming Committee Member, Peggy Sander. Her contact information is located in the Arnell Creek Phone Directory. You will be asked to sign off on a copy of the Pool Rules, as well as put down a $5.00 deposit for the key.
Question: When is the swimming pool open?
Answer: Typically, the pool opens for the season on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, and it closes sometime in mid-September. Check the Calendar of Events on the HOA webpage for exact dates. In season, the pool is available for use each day starting at 7:00 AM. Everyone has to be out of the pool area by dusk. Basically, if it is getting dark out, you should be out of the pool.
Utility Equipment in My Yard
Question: I have an electric box in my yard. Is there anything special I need to know about it?
Answer: Not really. The equipment was installed and is maintained by the Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC). The boxes may not be the prettiest things to look at, but they provide an essential service to the community. It is important the DEC workers have easy access to the boxes in the event of an emergency, so DEC has some strict rules about plantings around the boxes. Click here to read a recent letter from the DEC about that very issue.
Trash Removal
Question: Which trash removal companies serve this community?
Answer: Currently there are two companies that offer weekly pick-up of household trash and bi-weekly pick-up of recyclables in Arnell Creek. The first is WM (formerly known as Waste Management), and they pick up early on Monday mornings. You can learn more about them by calling (855) 852-7110 or visiting their website at www.wm.com. The other is Blue Hen Disposal, and they pick up on Thursday mornings. Their phone number is (302) 945-3500, and their website is www.bluehendisposal.com.
Question: If I use one of these companies, where should I put my trash bins?
Answer: On Trash Day, you should put your bins within four feet of the roadway in front of your house. The bins should be at least 4 feet away from each other and any other objects (like one’s mailbox) Be sure that the short metal bar of the trash bin must face the street. On the other days of the week, your bins should be out of sight. Discreetly place your bins beside or behind your house (or in your garage). Trash bins should not be easily seen from the roadway in front of your home.
Question: How do I dispose of yard waste?
Answer: Neither WM nor Blue Hen Disposal accepts yard waste as part of their regular residential service. Landowners can leave yard waste to a commercial drop-off site for a msall fee. Referrals
Question: Does the HOA have a list of recommended or approved companies that do residential work, such as roofing, electrical work or plumbing repairs?
Answer: No, the HOA does not officially endorse any particular companies. However, there is an “Arnell Creek Community “ private group page on Facebook. You can certainly make a post there about the service you need, and your neighbors can let you know who they have used (and how satisfied they were with the work). A great way to get the latest scoop on local contractors!
Communications
Question: How can I keep up with news and activities related to Arnell Creek?
Answer: If you are reading these questions on the HOA website, you already have found a great resource for information. The HOA also publishes a newsletter twice a year that is emailed to the owner(s) of each property in the community. When it comes to time-sensitive information, the HOA sends out email blasts. To get on that list, just sent an email to the HOA at ArnellCreek@gmail.com with your name, address, and email address.
